Phase 8 of Season of Discovery is introducing some of the most exciting weapon rewards in Classic WoW history, including legendary weapons, Scarlet Crusade-themed arms, and possible PvP exclusives.
The biggest reveal is the Ashbringer, which appears to be fully obtainable in Classic WoW for the first time.
Beyond that, over 500 new items have been discovered in the game’s PTR files, including two-handed swords, daggers, maces, bows, and shields. These weapons are expected to drop from the upcoming Scarlet Enclave Raid, with some possibly available through crafting and PvP rewards.
Ashbringer – The Real Blade of the Scarlet Highlord
The biggest reveal from the Season of Discovery phase 8 data mines is the Ashbringer, an iconic weapon long sought after in Classic WoW. Multiple items related to its reforging have been discovered:
- Ashbringer – The final, wieldable version of the weapon.
- Corrupted Ashbringer – A purified version of the Corrupted Ashbringer.
- Hilt of the Ashbringer – A key component needed to forge the legendary sword.
- Shard of the Crystallized Light – A legendary item, possibly tied to the reforging process.
- Splinter of the Ashbringer – Another legendary piece required for its restoration.
These items suggest a questline or raid challenge to obtain the legendary weapon, with warriors, paladins, and possibly hunters eligible to equip it. This would be the first time in Classic WoW history that players can legitimately wield the legendary Ashbringer.
These findings suggest Blizzard is going all-in on the Asbringer to finally make it into the game, and making phase 8 one of the most loot-heavy updates yet.
New scarlet crusade weapons
In addition to the legendaries, phase 8 brings a host of Scarlet Crusade-themed weapons, all featuring the faction’s signature red and gold color scheme.

Some of the most notable weapons include:
- Scarlet Rotbringer
- Ravagane
- Reborn Dagger
- Queensfall
- Mercy
- Lightfist Hammer
- Scarlet Smashbringer
- Strings of Fate
- Cluck Cannon
These weapons are expected to be obtained through the Scarlet Enclave Raid, PvP rewards, or crafted via professions.

Possible crafted and PvP-exclusive weapons
Alongside raid drops, data-mined crafting recipes suggest players may be able to forge new weapons using Scarlet Crusade materials.
Some possibilities include:
- Blacksmithing: Likely responsible for creating two-handed swords, maces, and shields.
- Engineering: Potentially adding new guns, bombs, or mechanical enhancements.
Additionally, certain weapons are labeled as PvP-exclusive in the game files. The Scarlet Warhorse mount was flagged as a PvP reward, so it’s possible some weapons will be arena or battleground rewards as well.
