Alchemy is one of the most rewarding professions in World of Warcraft: The War Within, giving players access to powerful potions, elixirs, and flasks that can greatly enhance performance in all areas of gameplay. Whether you’re tackling dungeons, taking part in PvP, or crafting valuable consumables for yourself and your guild, Alchemy offers a lot of utility.

This guide will show you the most efficient way to level your Alchemy skill, with a focus on saving gold and keeping the process simple from start to finish.

Khaz Algar Alchemy in The War Within

Leveling up Khaz Algar Alchemy in The War Within differs slightly from how other Professions. Instead of unlocking recipes at specific skill milestones like in previous expansions, all trainer-taught Khaz Algar Alchemy recipes are available by Skill 25, rather than the usual Skill 50. As a result, progressing further and gaining more recipes will mostly depend on random discoveries through Wild Experimentation and Meticulous Experimentation, along with some guaranteed recipes from vendors and the use of Knowledge Points.

Where to learn Khaz Algar Alchemy

You can learn Khaz Algar Alchemy at Tarig in Dornogal and Shalba in City of Threads. You’ll also need a Alchemist’s Lab Bench for most of the recipes. The crafting station can be found near the Alchemist trainers.

86x Mycobloom

25x Blessing Blossom

20x Orbinid OR 20x Luredrop

11x Arathor’s Spear

You can buy Gilded Vial at the Alchemy supply vendor. If you need higher quality vials, you can buy them at the auction house.

Craft 10x Algari Healing Potion

Use Neutralize Concoctions on the potions you just made. This will give you Coreway Catalyst for experimenting.

Now its time to experiment.

Use Wild Experimentation on the materials listed below. This will teach you basic alchemy recipes.

20x Mycobloom 20x Blessing Blossom 20x Orbinid OR 20x Luredrop

You should then have discovered Algari Mana Potion, Slumbering Soul Serum and Cavedweller’s Delight.

Craft 1x Slumbering Soul Serum Craft 1x Petal Powder

Alchemy Specialization

At Skill 25, you’ll gain access to Specializations. The choice of which one to unlock first isn’t too critical, since you’ll be able to unlock all four as you progress through the profession.

That said, how you allocate your Alchemy Knowledge Points is much more important. It’s best not to rush into spending them unless you have a clear idea of the path you want to follow. Knowledge Points are a scarce resource, you’ll never have as many as you’d like, and you’ll always wish for more. You can keep leveling up Alchemy and come back to distributing your points once you have a better plan in mind.

Discovering More Recipes

Use Wild Experimentation until you trigger a hazardous outcome. When this happens, your character will take damage and be knocked back. It’s entirely based on RNG, but typically occurs within 1 to 6 attempts.

The first time you experience a hazardous outcome, you’ll automatically learn the Meticulous Experimentation recipe.

Keep using Wild Experimentation to try and discover new recipes. While the odds of discovering something new are fairly low, the chance of triggering another hazardous outcome is quite high, so this could happen as early as your first attempt.

If no new recipe is discovered, you’ll receive the Recent Catastrophe debuff, which prevents further experimentation for 15 minutes.

To remove this debuff early, you’ll need to drink Formulated Courage. You can unlock this recipe by investing 30 points into the Alchemical Mastery specialization.

30-60

Meticulous Experimentation is the cheapest way to skill up, but it has 1 day cooldown. Do this daily to discover new recipes. You can do this up to 60 if you aren’t in a hurry.

Much depending on your discoveries, you will have different possibilities to skill up your alchemy.

You will have to work with what you got and maybe prioritize the ones that sell on the AH.

Thaumaturgy Specialization

This specialization unlocks Thaumaturgy. With this ability you can turn 20 materials into other materials. You can do this up to 50 alchemy skill

60-100
